The world's easiest casserole bread didn’t receive its name for nothing. It has a short ingredient list and requires no kneading, so you avoid sticky hands. The bread is baked at a high temperature, resulting in a crisp and chewy crust, while staying moist and airy on the inside.

Method

1Place water, yeast, and honey in a bowl and stir until the yeast and honey are dissolved.
-
2Add wheat flour and whole grain flour, then add salt. Mix the dough thoroughly.
-
3Cover the dough and let it rise in the refrigerator overnight (10–12 hours).
-
4Place a cast iron casserole in the oven and preheat it with the oven to 250°C (fan-assisted). Once both the oven and the casserole are thoroughly heated, remove the casserole from the oven. Sprinkle flour at the bottom of the casserole and pour in the dough.
-
5Add the lid to the casserole and return it to the oven. Bake the bread for 30 minutes. Then lower the temperature to 225°C and bake for another 10–15 minutes without the lid.
-
6When the bread is done and golden brown, take it out of the oven. Turn the bread out onto a cooling rack and let it cool before slicing.
